Eric Shotwell
Candidate for Hendricks County Commissioner, District 2
Hendricks County residents have a Democratic candidate for the November 2024 election
Eric Shotwell is a retired engineering consultant from Eli Lilly. As 30- year residents of Brownsburg, Eric and Janet Shotwell have raised a family and enjoyed all of the benefits of Hendricks County life. Now it is time to provide leadership service as a County Commissioner for District 2.
Some of the services provided by county commissioners include the following:
Represent the Hendricks County government as the chief executive and legislative body.
Represent the county on local boards
Lead the county departments and oversee appointments.
Receive bids and authorize contracts.
Develop and adopt policies, resolutions and ordinances governing the unincorporated areas of Hendricks County and the functions of County government
Hendricks County voters want candidates that are fair and equitable
When one party dominates positions at the county and state level, many voters are frustrated that their concerns are not being addressed. Party politics that comes from outside the state can tip the scales on issues that have nothing to do with our local needs.
Hendricks County is a great place to live. Let’s manage our local government services to help our friends and neighbors in times of need.
Voters must work together to protect our democratic system of government
Indiana voters need to elect representatives to craft legislation and manage budgets that are equitable for everyone. Government is a system that needs to work for the good of all of the citizens in our communities. Lincoln’s vision was a “government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.”
It seems like many politicians are stirring up voters to say that one party is all good and one party is all bad. We certainly don’t want Hendricks County voters manipulated by Washington power brokers pushing political TV ads. This is a good strategy to pull in campaign donations, but over half the voters get left out.
We need elected representatives wisely spending taxpayer money. This means we need to elect people in our county government that will balance the needs of Independent, Republican, and Democratic Party voters.
Help us reach all Hendricks County voters
Share your enthusiasm for better government to bring more people to the voting booth in November. When you volunteer your time or making a financial donation to our campaign, we reach many more voters.
County Government Leadership is Critical to our Quality of Life
Affordable Housing
People value all the benefits of moving to Hendricks County. Unfortunately, affordable housing is a huge barrier when they try to find a place to live. This has a big impact on local businesses that are trying to find employees. We need to have common-sense zoning and development policies so our county can grow and prosper.
Infrastructure for Rural Businesses
High speed internet is critical to the people for our county. School children, remote workers, and modern farming businesses require dependable, affordable network access. We need to support projects to bring our communications infrastructure up to date. We are missing opportunities for education and economic excellence.
Healthcare Systems
Healthcare in rural communities is in crisis. Access to medical services by general practitioners, trained specialists, mental health experts, and substance abuse professionals is severely limited. We need to support initiatives to bring services to our citizens, especially those living in rural, unincorporated areas with minimal coverage.
Environmental Protection
All Hoosiers should be living in a clean and safe environment. Unfortunately, Indiana environmental laws have been intentionally weakened for decades by powerful companies. This has allowed businesses in our state to contaminate our air, water, and soil. Indiana ranks 48 out of 50 States for air quality and pollution problems.
Indiana electricity producers have polluted our state and many states downwind with outdated and inefficient fossil fuel sources. We need to develop policies that encourage clean, renewable energy with local citizen support.
Our Hoosier land and small farm owners need to maximize the return on their property to stay in business. Local power helps reduce operations costs and promotes energy independence from imported oil. At the same time, Hendricks County residents are doing our part to clean up our environment for our children.
As Indiana Democrats, We Will Earn Your Trust:
We believe our representative government must serve all of our citizens
1. We will defend your democratic voting rights and protect the integrity of every election.
2. Every citizen has the right to live, work, worship, and enjoy their own personal freedoms.
3. Every elected official must be held to ethical standards including honesty, justice, equitable treatment, financial transparency, and respect for the rule of law.
4. Information shared with citizens will be accurate. Falsehoods and lies will not be used to discourage and suppress voting for any political party.
